If you kept up with New York Fashion Week, you definitely ran into the cape and poncho trend. It was dressed both up and down by many bloggers, editors and socialites. So on this beautiful “winter” day, I wanted to add some chicness to a lazy day-outfit and threw on this neutral Burberry cape.

Depending on the material of your cape and the amount of layers underneath, capes are perfect for both Miami’s and New York’s winter. As you can see, it wasn’t very cold, so I simply wore a black tank top and a skinny jean.

Cape, ponchos and blankets are all very forgiving since they are loose and cover the body. When wearing an oversized top or trench coat, I recommend layering something thin underneath to not add any unnecessary bulk. Wearing a skinny jean or a slim bottom will help contrast the looseness of the poncho.
